Dear Mr. XXXX
Thank you for getting in touch with me regarding the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act (S. 729).
The DREAM Act is a bipartisan and narrowly-tailored bill that would allow undocumented immigrants who have completed two years of military service or college to petition the Secretary of Homeland Security for legal permanent residency. These individuals are required to have entered the United States prior to their sixteenth birthday, graduated from high school, and lived in the United States for at least five consecutive years.
As the Senate continues to work on the National Defense Authorization Act and its amendments, I will keep your thoughts in mind.
Thank you again for sharing your views with me.
Sincerely,
Sherrod Brown
United States Senator
P:S: DOES the ADMIN want me to send a response to this mail asking specifically to include the kids of Legals too or wait? Admin pls. reply..
No. Pls only focus on the specific message in the email you had sent. Do not send another email to the email you have already sent and have it be ignored again or take a different route in the messaging.
Now you would want to call the office and talk about the points in your letter and ask why you did not get specific response to your suggestions. You wish to speak the legislative aide / immigration aide and discuss the issues in person rather than getting such automated messages that does not help you 'the constituent'. This is a serious issue for you as a constituent and would like it serious consideration by the office and discussion with you.
Take the matter a notch further and raise it. Then contact IV to help you out with the next steps.

Stupid question, but I am sure it is in the minds of many others -
1. When, if at all, will this be heard in the Senate given the current immigration imbroglio?
2. Will the house have a similar bill?

Guys,
We are like MLK of our modern times. Just observe that it may take a long time to change this. Actual outcome of our efforts may come to fruition in 10-20 years from now. It is the reality folks.
The only problem is that MLK was a US citizen. We are not. We have a very bad mood against us. Like it or not, to our disadvantage we have all sentiment against illegal immigration spilling over us as well. Let me tell you, I no longer discuss, comment or let Americans, not even close people know about my situation. Do you know why? People actually may not tell you, but the vast majority of Americans actually are delighted when we say we and our wives live with such restrictions.
My conclusion is this:
If you are able to fire resumes back to home country or Australia and you can get good opportunities elsewhere, do not waste your time here anymore. Our golden professional years are the ones between 25-40. If you achieve your freedom only after 40 you may find yourself in a bad shape. At 40 I must be well established professionally already.
One more thing:
We have been very lucky so far. God Forbidden, if there is one major terrorist attack in this country, you will see this Congress AND the American people with enough ammo to turn their big guns against us big time. Do you really think people will waste time with us? I am not saying that is going to happen, but I am saying if we spend our lives here and we do not take the opportunities back home, that may be a risky move indeed.
Think of it this way..We are foreigners 12K miles from Home...We are here and trying to change the laws of this country...They are listening to us a bit...That in itself is a big achivement.....It is not gonna happen overnight...It is gonna be a long haul and more...Even after the law changes we would need to look out for actual implementation..So you better harden yourself for a long protracted fight...No one promised that this is gonna be easy...You and I have invested so much time ...you and I have no option but to fight it out...

[I]One suggestion to admins, is it possible to send a simple one paragraph email to all IV users requesting for contribution?
The newsletter mentioned above was sent out to all members yesterday afternoon. Maybe some have turned off emails from IV, or it went to the spam folder.
I have received the news letter and it is pretty neat. But you know, many people are busy. So my suggestion was to send out another simple version with only the Advocacy day link with a request for contribution.

Thanks for your suggestions and comments but we don't need H1 anymore.. She is using EAD.
Pardon me, if this is not appropriate question. You mentioned that your wife went to School here. Is it Masters Degree? If yes, she can apply for H1 under the 20,000 quota, which is not lottery based(at least for few weeks).[/QUOTE]

If IV has any plan to remove the unfair 7% quota by either lawsuit and/or lobby, I will donate $ 200 as well.
7% quota based on national origin is based on law but it is clearly a biased and outdated law. It is beyond my comprehension why should we scared of initiating a litigation against the US government when it is clearly involved in blatant discrimination. The HSMP rules were challenged successfully by Indian high skilled workers in UK, why can't we do the same over here? I pledge to donate USD 200 for a lawsuit if such an action is initiated.

Mailed a cheque for $50 today.
Have faith in IV guys. I have seen a lot of dedicated members of IV which inspired me a lot. Don't probe IV too much with our highly intellectual brain and do nothing.
If IV is not there ,we will be murmuring with ourselves and resigned to our fate.
Keep going.I salute those dedicated guys.

Been in the US since 1998, have an EB-2 PD of 2001, have played by the rules all along. Still no GC... And, the dates are going back to 2000 from the new year.. I've lost hopes...
I'm pretty close to getting clinical depression because of this game played by USCIS, Labor Dept, FBI and my own bad luck.
SKILL bill, OMNIBUS, etc. comes and goes. IV does seem to be doing things to lobby for the community, but let's face one reality. Like a news article said, no one in congress or senate wants to touch immigration even with a long pole until 2009.
The US has been very good to me (other than the GC part), more than my home country (India) which is why I'm still here.
Have invested too much of time in this country to just pack up and go. Just curious if any of you feel this way? How do you handle such depressing feelings?
--Hopelessness, negative thinking and depression are real feelings. Many people live in denial. Some realize and never express it till it consumes them completely. Some express it to their relief but may suffer from not knowing the reason causing depressed feelings.
In your case , you are not in denial, you are expressing it and most importantly, you have identified the reason behind feeling hopeless and depressed.
If you can do anything to solve the problem, then do it without worrying about the outcome. If the situation is beyond your control, you are not going to solve it by worrying more about it.
Be in control. Don't let it control you.Keep yourself occupied by doing things that you like and entertain yourself.
I am going through the same.Yours truly has been waiting for a settled life since 1998.
Good luck.

Section 202 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) states that the per-country limit for preference immigrants is set at 7% of the total annual employment-based preference limits. This means a country with large population like India and a tiny country like Lichtenstein get same number of visa numbers. This system is designed to systematically discriminate people from India and China by preventing them from attaining employment visas. More research needs to be done whether this constitutes a violation of US Equal Employment Opportunity Law. We need to find out whether this constitutes discrimination by national origin. Below is is some relevant reading material:
http://www.eeoc.gov/policy/docs/national-origin.html#IIA
This link says employer cannot discriminate based on country of origin.
USCIS/government is free to discriminate against country of origin.

With EB2 getting all the spillovers, there is no per country limit for any category except EB3-I. Why?
